Solid Waste Management
The Solid Waste Department provides for the proper management and disposal of all solid waste generated within the borders of Hardee County using practices that ensure the sanctity of the county’s environment and that are consistent with the goals and
objectives of the Board of County Commissioners.
Solid Waste disposal includes waste generated from the commercial and residential units as well as wood and yard trash and construction and demolition debris. This department acts as a resource agency for county residents and businesses on the proper management and disposal of any type of waste that they may generate. They manage specialized programs such as the Notification and Verification Program for commercial evaluations of hazardous waste generation, Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, Household Sharps Collection Program, and Recycling.
.Our recycling program is currently operational and the drop-off is located at the Main Facility. We are currently recycling Newspaper, Glass Bottles (clear and color), Cardboard, Batteries, Used Oil, Aluminum, and Metal There is no pick-up available at this time, but any resident is welcome to drop off anything during normal business hours.
